What: We are doing a full reconstruction of North Avon Rd including installation and construction of drainage, footpaths, services, road pavement, kerb & channel, berms and traffic lights
Where: North Avon Rd from Hills Rd to North Parade in Richmond, Christchurch
When: From Tuesday 3 April
Why: To replace the ageing road pavement and fix earthquake damage
We will be carrying out intense roadworks at the intersection of North Avon Rd and Stanmore Rd from Tuesday 3 April. This involves replacing traffic lights and carrying out improvements to the road and footpaths.
If we experience bad weather or poor roading conditions we may need to carry out night works. We will put out more information about this if required.
During the works, traffic through the intersection will be restricted to one lane only operated with temporary traffic signals. We will be monitoring these signals to maximise traffic flow during peak times. However please be prepared for delays when travelling through this intersection.
North Avon Rd will also be one way westbound only from Stanmore Rd to Nicholls Rd
A detour operation will be indicated through signage. To avoid delays motorists should consider using Hills Rd and Shirley Rd, or Woodham Rd, Gloucester St and Gayhurst Rd as an alternative route.
We are mindful that this is a popular intersection and as such will be carrying out part of our repairs during the school holiday period to minimise traffic impacts.
Stanmore Rd and North Avon Rd intersection will not be suitable for Heavy Vehicles.
