A new speed limit and double yellow no passing lines will be put in place on Dyers Pass Road to make it safer for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists.
To try and reduce the crash rate, the Council consulted the public about adding double yellow no passing lines from the Summit Road to the intersection of Dyers Pass Road and Hackthorne Road.
It also proposed making the speed limit a consistent 60km/h for the rural section of the road.
After considering the public feedback, the Council made the decision to proceed with the changes.
Installation of the double yellow no passing lines, the new speed limit signs and the raised centre line pavement markers will begin in mid-April.
The work is scheduled to take place between 15 and 18 April, 22 and 26 April, and 29 April and 2 May.
While the work is done, Dyers Pass Road will be closed to traffic from the Sign of the Takahe to Governors Bay between 7 pm and 6.30 am.
Residents who live on Dyers Pass Road will still be able to access their properties.
