Night Works: Road Work

Central City Anchor Projects - Final sealing programme (night work)

Last updated
5 Oct 2018 3:07pm

What: We are applying the final asphalt surface and line marking to several roads in the central city

Where: Montreal Street, Antigua Street, St Asaph St and Tuam Street

Why: This final sealing, traffic signal loop cutting and line marking work will complete all of our construction work on Montreal, Tuam, Antigua and St Asaph Streets.

Night work from Sunday 7 October 2018 until Monday 22 October 2018*

What are we doing?

Now the warmer spring weather is here we can resume road sealing at night. This will complete several of the roads we have been working on. Work includes installing new kerb, channel and ducting at intersections, installing new traffic signals and building new footpaths.

We will then complete the road by applying the final asphalt surface, painting the line markings and cutting in any final traffic signal loops.

The work areas below refer to the map below. If local road closures around work areas are required detours will be signposted and traffic controllers will permit residential access.

Block A - Montreal Street and bridge: 7 - 15 October

Block B - Antigua Street (north section): 10 - 11 October

Block C - Tuam Street: 14 - 16 October

Block D - Antigua Street (south section): 15 - 17 October

Block E - St Asaph Street: 16 - 18 October

Block F - Antigua Street south wing, St Asaph Street east wing: 18 - 22 October

How this work may impact you

Work is being carried out at night between the hours of 8 pm and 6 am to minimise the impact on traffic and pedestrian access. In general, the work will take up to three consecutive nights to complete. The first night consists of milling off (removing) the old road surface, the second night involves laying the new asphalt and the third night is reserved for loop cutting for any traffic signals and painting road markings.

*All dates are subject to change, due to possible weather delays.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work and thank you for your patience.
