Delays: Scheduled Road Work

Interruptions on the Southland State Highway Network

Last updated

The coming week looks like a cold one.  The rain has already set in and is likely to continue tonight and into tomorrow across Southland, and there are frosts predicted on Sunday and Monday nights.  If you’re heading that way, snow is forecast for alpine passes on Saturday morning and possibly lower to 400m -500m.  Please keep an eye on the weather forecasts and drive to the conditions.

* Also – please allow extra time if travelling between Invercargill and Dunedin on SH1 on Saturday as half of Southland heads to Dunedin to help bring the Shield home

Interruptions on the Southland State Highway network

For information on work or events on the State Highway that may have an impact on your travel in the coming week you can look here, these are listed below also.  The works are weather dependent so timing may alter based on this.

There is usually a temporary speed limit of 30 km/h at each site, please slow down (including when the sites are unattended) so all our crews can get home safe to their families each night, and so that repairs on the highways take hold.  Thanks, we appreciate your patience at these sites!

This week you can expect disruptions at the following locations:

  • SH1 at Ascot roundabout, southbound lane closed 22/23 August from 10 am – 3 pm.  Detour in place
  • SH1, Tay Street Invercargill, lane closure
  • SH1, Woodlands-Invercargill highway, stop/go in place
  • SH1, Main St, Mataura, right turn bay to Carlyle St closed
  • SH6, Diana St, Lumsden, stop/go in place
  • SH93, Old Coach Rd, Clinton, stop/go in place
  • SH94 and SH95, Te Anau to Mossburn, stop/go in place

  • SH 99, Iron Bridge, stop/go with single lane closure
  • SH99, Tuatapere, Waimatuku, Te Waewae and Waihoaka, stop/go in place
