Work will begin on Monday 8th March on a 4-week pavement rehabilitation and drainage project on State Highway 79 through the Kakahu Area, from the Kakahu rest area to Mulvihill Rd.
Due to the narrow width of the road, we are unable to fit state highway traffic past the work site while machinery is operating so intermittent road closures for up to 30 minutes at a time will be used to complete the work.
The site will be under stop/stop traffic control, with the road opening on the hour and every half hour from 7 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturdays to let the traffic through.
At nights (7 pm to 7 am), on Sundays, and over the Easter Holiday, the road will be open under a temporary speed restriction.
Enquires about these works can be directed to the main Contractor Downer on telephone 03 687 2751, or to Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency 0800 44 44 49 (0800 4 Highways) or via email to email@example.com.
