A windy day ahead for HB, on and off the roads

Road users throughout Hawke’s Bay may have a windy few hours ahead, with a strong wind warning in place.
The watch is expected to be in place until later this evening.
Metservice is forecasting severe gale winds, gusting to 120 km/h in exposed places.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is reminding drivers throughout the region to be mindful of the possibility of strong winds.
Please drive to the conditions and be careful of the roads – take your time, don’t rush and avoid risky situations.
Drive safe, drive alert especially if you’re on a motorbike or in a high-sided vehicle like a truck.
NZTA is also urging drivers to ensure you're rested and to take breaks if you're making a long trip.
Please also be alert to the possibility of fallen debris or tree branches covering the road in places.
