Road users throughout Manawatū-Whanganui may have a windy few hours ahead, with a severe thunderstorm watch in place.

The watch is expected to be in place for 4pm til later tonight.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is reminding drivers throughout the region to be mindful of the possibility of strong winds, greater than 110 km/h.

Please drive to the conditions and be careful of the roads – take your time, don’t rush and avoid risky situations.
