There are maintenance projects coming up on State Highway 18 (SH18) between Brigham Creek Road and Greenhithe Road, which will impact night-time travel.  

From Tuesday 2 to Wednesday 10 June between 9pm and 5am (excluding Friday and Saturday nights) NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) will be carrying out barrier upgrades on the eastern side of Upper Harbour Bridge (near Tauhinu Road).

The barrier upgrades will include strengthening and replacing sections to improve safety for road users. A combination of lane restrictions and full closures will be needed to complete the maintenance quickly and safely.  

A temporary safety barrier and reduced speed limits will be in place around the worksite night and day (24/7) on the westbound lanes.  Work will be carried out at night-time when traffic volumes are lighter.  

Full westbound closures on Tue 2 and Wed 10 June:

• A full westbound closure from Greenhithe Road to Tauhinu Road will be used to install and remove the temporary barriers around the worksite. Detour via Upper Harbour Highway. 
• Traffic will still be able to travel over Upper Harbour Bridge using one of the eastbound lanes. Stop/go will manage entry via Tauhinui westbound off-ramp. 

Lane restrictions in both directions on Wed 3 to Tue 9 June (excluding Friday and Saturday nights):

• At least one lane next to the median barrier will be closed in each direction. Reduced speeds will be in place.  
• Over dimension vehicles need to contact  NAC@asm.nzta.govt.nz at least three days before travelling for instructions.

Clarks Lane Footbridge minor repairs and maintenance – mid to late June  

After the Upper Harbour Bridge barrier upgrades have been completed, we will begin maintenance on Clarks Lane Footbridge. The team will carry out cleaning and maintenance of the footbridge.

Work is expected to take two weeks from Sunday 14 to Wednesday 24 June (Sundays to Thursdays, 9pm to 5am), and full closures will be required between Brigham Creek Road and Squadron Drive when the team are working over State Highway 18.  The detour will be via Hobsonville Road.  

The footbridge will remain open. Traffic management will assist pedestrians across the footbridge when required.

Programme is as follows:

• Sun 14 and Mon 15 June: Full closure in both directions between Brigham Creek Road and Squadron Drive.
• Tue 16 to Thu 18 June: Full eastbound closure between Brigham Creek Road and Squadron Drive.
• Sun 21 to Wed 24 June: Full westbound closure between Squadron Drive and Brigham Creek Road.   

Over dimension vehicles that cannot take Hobsonville Road should contact  NAC@asm.nzta.govt.nz at least three days before travelling for instructions.
