Bay of Plenty state highway update

SH29A between Oropi roundabout and Barkes Corner reopened once water receded around midday today and SH2 near Awakaponga is also now open.
SH2 at the Wairoa bridge remains open in both lanes, with geotechnical engineers continuing to closely monitor the site through the weekend.

Tauranga
- SH2 south of Katikati – OPEN, drive with care
- SH2 between Wairoa Bridge and Clarke Road – OPEN, shoulder closure on left heading to Te Puna. Cycle path closed at Wairoa Bridge due to slip
- SH2 between Bethlehem and Waihī overbridge (Takitimu Drive) – OPEN, surface flooding – drive with care
- SH29A between Oropi roundabout and Barkes Corner – CLOSED until water recedes.
Eastern Bay of Plenty
- SH2 Matatā straights – CLOSED, flooding Ōtamarākau
- SH2 Edgecumbe to Matatā – CLOSED near Awakaponga due to flooding until water recedes.
