A closure of State Highway 85 in North Otago due to a serious crash has now been extended to Kyeburn and the intersection with State Highway 87 to the north, and to Waynes and the intersection with Macraes Road to the south.

A detour is available: southbound traffic should turn right from SH85 on to SH87, then turn left on to Hyde-Macraes Road, continue on to Macraes Road, and then right back on to SH85. The reverse applies for northbound traffic.

9.35am – Serious crash closes SH85 in North Otago

State Highway 85/Dunback-Morrisons Road between Green Valley and Waihemo in North Otago is closed this morning because of a serious crash. 

Emergency services are at the site of the crash north of the Loop Road intersection.

The section of highway may be closed for several hours and road users are asked to delay their journeys or use an alternative route.
