4.55pm update – SH1 reopened after serious crash
State Highway 1/Domett Road, between Leader Road East and Scargill Valley Road, has reopened following a serious crash this afternoon.
Road users are asked to drive with care in the area.
1.15pm update – Closure area extended, detour available for SH1 crash
A closure in place on State Highway 1/Domett Road, after a serious crash near Domett this morning, has been extended. The stretch of road between Leader Road East and Scargill Valley Road is now closed.
A detour is available via State Highway 7 and Inland Route 70/Inland Road/Inland Kaikoura Road, but this route is not suitable for heavy vehicles.
12.30pm – North Canterbury crash closes SH1
A stretch of State Highway 1 between Christchurch and Kaikōura has been closed by a crash.
The crash happened earlier this morning on SH1/Domett Road, west of the intersection with Darrochs Road, near Domett. Emergency services are working at the site of the crash.
SH1/Domett Road is now closed between Ethelton Road and Darrochs Road. People should expect delays and consider delaying their travel through the area.
An update will be provided as the status of the road changes.
