Crews will be installing concrete barriers on State Highway 35 near Wharekahika/Hicks Bay tomorrow (Friday).

The concrete barriers are being installed at the slip site which caused this stretch of SH35 to close at times during the week.

Crews have been clearing the large slips and abseilers have been clearing smaller, loose material from the hillside.

The concrete barriers will be installed to keep any further loose material away from the road, minimising the need for future closures on this stretch.

Crews will be installing the barriers from 11am til 5pm tomorrow.

Please expect 30 minute delays while travelling through and drive with care around the work site.
