UPDATE: Crash causing delays, State Highway 2 Upper Hutt (SH2 northbound lanes now OPEN)

6:25 pm:

State Highway 2 is now open to northbound traffic following a crash earlier this evening.

Both northbound lanes have reopened. The lanes were closed for approximately 40 minutes while emergency services and contractors attended this incident.

Drivers can expect ongoing travel delays until queued traffic clears.


5:55 pm:

Drivers heading north on State Highway 2 this evening need to be prepared for significant delays.

A crash has closed the highway to northbound traffic just before the State Highway 58 Haywards offramp.

The incident, involving a single vehicle, was reported around 5:15 pm.

A detour is in place via Hebden Crescent, onto the SH2/SH58 off-ramp then onto the SH58 interchange.

However, drivers must expect delays until the crash site is cleared and the highway’s northbound lanes are reopened.

Drivers are urged to take extra care when travelling through the area and follow all instructions from emergency services and contractors.
