State Highway 2 has now reopened to southbound traffic, and the SH2 Totara Park intersection has been cleared Drivers can expected ongoing delays until traffic congestion in the area eases.

Traffic heading through Upper Hutt to Wellington can expect delays this morning following a multi-vehicle crash near Totara Park.

The incident, which was reported shortly before 7:30 am, has closed the highway to southbound traffic between Maoribank and Gibbons Street.

The route remains open to northbound traffic. 

Drivers are asked to avoid the area, delay their journey or, if travelling through the area to detour through Upper Hutt. Drivers should also follow all instructions from emergency services.

Emergency services are at the scene and efforts are underway to clear the  crash site and reopen the highway’s southbound lane.

Travel delays can be expected in the area until this incident is resolved.
