State Highway 58 has reopened following a crash earlier this evening. 

The highway was closed for around two hours while the incident was being resolved. 

5.25pm:

State Highway 58 is closed for the third time today following another crash on the route between Paremata and Pāuatahanui.

The latest incident, involving two vehicles, was reported shortly after 5 pm this evening and occurred near the intersection of Bayview Road.

Emergency services are at the scene. State Highway 58 is closed in both directions between the SH58/SH59 roundabout and Postgate Drive.

Drivers should avoid the area, delay their travel or use an alternative route. Ongoing delays and traffic congestion can be expected in the area until the incident is resolved.

The latest crash follows two others on the route today, one late this morning and another mid-afternoon.

With wet weather continuing to affect state highways across the lower North Island, drivers are strongly urged to drive to the conditions and take care on the roads.
