State Highway 58 has reopened following a crash late this afternoon. The highway was closed for around three hours while the incident was being resolved.

Travel delays can be expected until queued traffic clears, and drivers should take care while travelling the route.

Drivers travelling between the Hutt Valley and Pāuatahanui are asked to avoid using State Highway 58 this evening following a crash on the route.

The two-vehicle crash, reported at around 4:30 pm, occurred between Bradey Road and Belmont Road – near Judgeford.

The highway is closed to traffic at the SH1 Transmission Gully interchange, and a soft closure is in place at SH2 Haywards.

Access is available from Haywards only for affected residents who have to access their properties from the route. Traffic cannot pass through the crash site – meaning there is no direct access available from SH58 to SH1 Transmission Gully or SH58 Whitby/Paremata.

Drivers are asked to delay their travel and avoid the area until the highway is reopened. Emergency services are at the scene, and there is no estimated time for when the highway will reopen.

Drivers are warned to expect ongoing travel delays in the areas until the incident is resolved.

Updates on the highway’s status can be found on the NZTA/Waka Kotahi website. Drivers are encouraged to check road conditions before they travel.
