State Highway 58 has reopened following this evening’s crash.

The road was closed for approximately four hours while emergency services and contractors attended this incident.

NZTA/Waka Kotahi thanks drivers for their patience and cooperation during the closure.

Drivers are asked to avoid State Highway 58 near Whitby following a crash earlier this evening.

The incident, involving two vehicles, was reported around 7:30 pm.

State Highway 58 is currently closed between the intersections of James Cook Drive and Joseph Banks Drive.

Drivers should avoid the area, delay their travel, or use an alternative route via local roads.

Emergency services are at the scene, and the Police Serious Crash Unit is attending -  the closure may remain in place for several hours while an investigation is carried out.
