UPDATE: Crash closes State Highway 6 near Okaramio (SH6 OPEN TO ONE LANE)

State Highway 6 has reopened to a single lane.
Stop/go traffic management is in place while power line repairs are completed. Drivers can expect ongoing delays while travelling through the area and should allow for extra travel time.

State Highway 6 remains closed north of Renwick this morning, following last night’s fatal crash near Okaramio.
Closure points remain in place at Leslies Road and Mount Riley Road.
A detour is available for light vehicles only between Havelock and Picton on Queen Charlotte Drive. However, this route is not suitable for heavy vehicles.

State Highway 6 is expected to remain closed for several hours tonight, following a serious crash near Okaramio earlier this evening.
Police have confirmed one person has died and that its Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
The highway can be expected to remain closed while the Serious Crash Unit carries out its work.
Drivers must continue to avoid the area until the highway reopens.

Drivers traveling between Blenheim and Havelock can expect delays this evening as emergency services attend a crash on State Highway 6 at Okaramio.
The highway is closed between Leslies Road and Mount Riley Road following a single-vehicle crash that has brought power lines down onto the road.
The incident was first reported around six o’clock this evening.
There are no immediate local road detours available, meaning traffic cannot travel between Renwick and Havelock. Drivers are asked to delay their travel and avoid the area.
While light vehicles can travel between Havelock and Picton on Queen Charlotte Drive, this route is not suitable for heavy vehicles. It also has roadworks in place. People using this route must use caution.
