UPDATE: Crash closes State Highway 60 at Mahana (SH60 now OPEN)

Update 5:30 pm:
State Highway 60 has reopened at Mahana following this afternoon’s crash.
The highway was closed for just over two hours, but the road is now open to traffic in both directions.
NZTA/Waka Kotahi thanks drivers for their patience and cooperation while emergency services and contractors managed this incident.
3.23pm:
Drivers travelling between Richmond and Motueka can expect delays this afternoon as emergency services attend a crash on State Highway 60.
The incident, which occurred near the intersection of State Highway 60 and Trafalgar Road, was reported around 2:30 pm.
State Highway 60 is currently closed between Gardner Valley Road and the Moutere Highway turn-off (Pea Viner Corner).
Local road detours are available:
- Nelson to Motueka - detour via Moutere Valley Highway (Pea Viner corner)
- Motueka to Nelson - detour via Gardner Valley Road, through to the Moutere Highway.
Emergency Services are at the scene and Police confirm the Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use the recommended detours until the crash scene is cleared. The detours will require extra travel time so drivers should allow more time for their journeys.
