Crews remain on site at SH3, Awakino after last week’s mudslide
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 16 Jun 2025 1:29pm | Taranaki
SH3 Awakino, between Uruti and Piopio, is open to 2 lanes under a temporary speed limit as crews continue work to clear slips and repair drainage following last week’s mudslide.
For the next fortnight (16 June to 28 June) crews will be onsite between Uruti and Piopio, working at multiple sites.
There are a number of areas on this stretch of road under stop/go traffic management during the next fortnight. Please be patient and expect additional journey times of up to 60 minutes if travelling between New Plymouth and Hamilton.
Crews will be onsite during the day however the speed restrictions and traffic management will remain in place overnight.
Work will continue on this stretch of road during this long Matariki weekend, so please plan your journey accordingly.
Access to property may be affected at times. If you need to travel, please speak with one of our onsite crew and they will assist you.
We acknowledge these delays will be frustrating and we wish to thank everyone travelling through over the next fortnight.
