Roading crews will be repairing damaged flexible median barrier at Manawatū Bridge (Whirokino) on State Highway 1 near Foxton this Sunday night (4 May).

The southbound lane will be closed between 7pm and 6am while crews carry out the repairs. Work will be complete and the bridge back to two lanes at 6am on Monday 5 May.

The northbound lane will remain open during this time.

A detour will be in place for southbound road users. Motorists will be detoured onto Foxton Shannon Road, SH57, Queen Street East and back to SH1 in Levin.  This detour will add approximately 10-15 minutes to your journey time.

A 30 km/h temporary speed limit will be in place for northbound vehicles.
