Damaged flexible safety barrier to be repaired on Te Ahu a Turanga
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 25 Sept 2026 2:41pm | Manawatū-Whanganui
The eastbound lanes of State Highway 3 Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū-Tararua Highway will be closed on Sunday evening for urgent barrier repair.
The lanes heading east between Ashhurst and Woodville will be closed on Sunday night between 8pm and 10pm.
Eastbound traffic during that time will be detoured over Saddle Road. The detour will add about 10 minutes to journeys.
Westbound traffic heading between Woodville and Ashhurst will still be able to travel on the highway. One lane will be closed so there will be traffic management and a reduced speed in place for the safety of road workers.
Daylight saving begins on Sunday so please plan ahead and plan your trip accordingly. Expect delays during this time.
During the two hours, crews will repair damaged flexible median barrier.
We understand how critical these barriers are to the safety of all road users, preventing people from crossing the centreline, saving lives and the potential for serious injury.
