Northbound road users should expect delays north of Christchurch after a crash on the Waimakariri River Bridge on State Highway 1.

The crash reportedly occurred in the northbound lanes and traffic monitoring shows congestion resulting for traffic on SH1. Efforts are underway to tow the crashed vehicles.

People are asked to travel with care and follow instructions provided on signage in the area.
