NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is advising people to take extra care and check the latest conditions before travelling, with slips closing two state highways in Bay of Plenty overnight.
State Highway 30 at Lake Rotoiti is closed between Hauparu and Lake Okataina Road.
State Highway 33 is closed at Okere Falls, near Taheke Road.
SH2 Taneatua to Kutarere (Waimana Gorge) is currently closed to through traffic (access for local traffic only).
Motorists should expect delays.
NZTA contractors are on site at both locations clearing slip material.
Further updates will be provided.
People driving in the region are urged to slow down, increase following distances and drive to the conditions.
Watch for surface flooding, slips, and debris and avoid driving through floodwaters.
