Road users in Dunedin should plan and prepare for night-time closures to State Highway 1 Crawford Street over a period of three weeks for road resurfacing.
Northbound SH1 Crawford Street, from Gordon Street to Queens Gardens, will be closed Sunday to Thursday, from 7.30pm to 6am each night, over three weeks starting Sunday 21 September. Roading crews will be excavating parts of the road surface and reinstating it with new asphalt.
Daytime parking will still be available on Crawford Street, with all vehicles to be removed by 6pm. Businesses can still operate as usual. During the road closure times, people can use alternative parking on side streets.
During the overnight closures on Crawford St, there will also be side road closures and temporary speed limits with detours in place.
The light vehicle detour will follow Andersons Bay Road, Princes Street and Dowling Street (note this detour will be shortened in sections depending on the work stage). The heavy vehicle detour will be via the Harbour Arterial – Andersons Bay Road, Strathallan Street, Wharf Street, Thomas Burns Street and St Andrew Street.
On behalf of NZTA, contractors will aim to minimise the impacts on adjacent residents, businesses and the travelling public as much as possible however there will be some noise in addition to the disruption to traffic.
NZTA thanks businesses, residents and road users for their patience and understanding as this necessary work is carried out.
(*Note that weather conditions and completion requirements may delay the start and duration of the work).
