Further police investigations required at the site of a serious crash will mean part of State Highway 99 in Southland being closed again tomorrow morning (Friday 24 July).

A serious crash on SH99/Riverton-Wallacetown Highway, near Wallacetown, on Tuesday meant that the road was closed for several hours, reopening in the early hours of Wednesday.

To allow police scene investigation work, SH99/Riverton-Wallacetown Highway at Wallacetown is scheduled to close again to all traffic from 9.30am to 11.30am tomorrow.

A detour is available: Eastbound traffic should use Oporo Flat Road, Lochiel Bridge Road and State Highway 6/Winton-Lorneville Highway, to Lorneville. The reverse applies for westbound travel.

People are asked to travel with care and to expect delays. Stay up to date at our Journey Planner site.
