Lighting up the SH30 Te Ngae / Wharenui Road intersection
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 11 Jul 2025 3:05pm | Bay of Plenty
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) reminds drivers to follow the temporary speed limit of 30km/h near upcoming works on State Highway 30 (SH30) Te Ngae Road and the intersection of Wharenui Road.
Day works are now planned for Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 July and will see the road layout temporarily changed with narrower lanes allowing poles for lights to be installed on the berm.
People should expect the traffic flow to be slower, and some congestion and delays may occur in peak hours.
For the safety of our work crew and travelling public, people are encouraged to drive carefully through the site and stick to the 30km/h temporary speed limit.
Access to the Ōwhata Medical Centre and shops will be by a left in turn only. People driving can use the Ōwhata Roundabout to change direction. Pedestrian access will be maintained for most of the work and alternate access will be signposted, with people encouraged to use the signalised crossing by Sunrise Avenue.
This work replaces planned night works for the same days. Night works remain scheduled for Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 July for line marking and signal installation at the same intersection.
This work is weather dependent and may change.
NZTA thanks motorists for their patience while we complete this essential work to keep the state highway network safe, accessible and resilient.
