A raft of maintenance work is planned for Manawatū Bridge (Whirokino) on State Highway 1 next month.
The southbound lane of the bridge will be closed for 3 shifts, from Sunday 15 February.
Work will be carried out under a mixture of night and day shifts:
- Nighttime southbound closure on Sunday 15 February from 7pm until 5am
- Daytime southbound closure on Monday 16 February from 9am – 2:30pm

Southbound traffic will be detoured. At all times during the work, the northbound lane will remain open, with a temporary lower speed in place.
During the southbound lane closure, a raft of maintenance work will be carried out, including resurfacing and median barrier repair.
Southbound traffic will be detoured onto Foxton Shannon Road to State Highway 57, Shannon to Queen Street East, and back to State Highway 1 in Levin.
The detour route is expected to add an additional 10-15 minutes to your journey time.
