Napier’s Meeanee Road northbound off-ramp will be closed for a fortnight later next month, as construction gathers pace on the State Highway 2 Hawke’s Bay Expressway project.

The off-ramp will be closed from 8pm Friday 25 September until 5am Monday 12 October while it is widened to accommodate the extra lanes.

The off-ramp will reopen at 5am on Monday 12 October, at which point, motorists can expect a new road layout, with a wider off-ramp.

The work will take place 24/7.

The closure has been timed to coincide with the school holidays to minimise disruption while traffic volumes are lower.

A detour will be in place – road users will need to travel to the Taradale Road roundabout and turn left to head to Taradale, or right towards Napier.

The detour is expected to add around five minutes to affected journeys. Please plan ahead while the closure is in place.

Completing the work in a single closure period allows crews to complete this stage of the project more efficiently, while avoiding multiple future closures of the same off-ramp.

Kennedy Road off-ramp remains closed throughout construction.
