Night closures for tree removal on SH6 Queenstown

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 8 Jun 2026 4:22pm | Otago

Up to three nights of closure will be required for part of State Highway 6/Frankton-Ladies Mile Highway in Queenstown to accommodate tree removal work.

SH6/Frankton-Ladies Mile Highway, between the intersections of Hawthorne Drive and Grant Road, is scheduled to close at 9pm tonight and to reopen at 5am tomorrow (Tuesday) for removal of the tree line on the boundary of the Waipuna Rise subdivision.

Closures from 9pm are also planned for tomorrow and Wednesday for the same periods of time, reopening at 5am the next day. If the final night of work on Wednesday/Thursday is not required, notification will be provided.

While these night closures are in place, a short detour will be available via Grant Road, Shearers Drive and Hawthorne Drive.

We thank people in advance for their patience and understanding while this work is carried out.
