NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 25 Sept 2026 1:17pm | Auckland
On Thursday 1 October from 10pm to 5am, overnight maintenance works will require several full closures on State Highway 18 (SH18) between Brigham Creek interchange and Greenhithe Road.
The works are part of the ongoing maintenance programme to keep the state highway network safe and reliable for road users.
To carry out works safely and efficiently, full closures will be in place on SH18 at the following locations:
Eastbound (towards Greenhithe)
Brigham Creek roundabout to Squadron Drive (full closure). The entire stretch of SH18 is closed between the Brigham Creek roundabout and Squadron Drive exit. A signposted detour is in place via Brigham Creek Road, Hobsonville Road, Buckley Avenue and Squadron Drive.
Upper Harbour Bridge (lane restrictions): Traffic will still be able to travel east across the Upper Harbour Bridge using one westbound lane.
Tauhinu Road to Greenhithe Road (full closure): The entire stretch of SH18 between Tauhinu Road and Greenhithe Road is closed. A signposted detour is in place via Upper Harbour Highway and Greenhithe Road.
Westbound (towards Westgate)

Stop/go traffic management will be in place at Tauhinu Road and Squadron Drive on-ramps.
Speed restrictions may be in place for the safety of road users and our crews. Please follow traffic management directions and slow down or stop when required.
Over Dimension Loads should assess the suitability of the detour routes before travelling. Where detour routes are unsuitable, operators should consider alternative routes or avoid travelling through the area during the closure period. If travel cannot be avoided, please contact the Network Access Coordinators at nac@asm.nzta.govt.nz or 027 495 8053.
Works are weather dependent and may change.
