Night works planned for State Highway 1 next week – Glenside/Grenada offramp to be closed

Glenside and Grenada residents will need to keep an eye on their travel plans next Wednesday night (1 April), with pavement and resurfacing work planned for the State Highway 1 Grenada/Glenside northbound offramp.

Contractors will be on the job between 9 pm and 4:30 am. The offramp will be closed to traffic while the work is underway. This is for safety reasons, and also due to the size of the heavy machinery needed.

This is critical maintenance - road resurfacing helps prevent potholes and fixes pavement wear. It also improves road grip and skid resistance, making the highway safer for drivers.

While the offramp is closed, northbound traffic needing to access Glenside and Grenada will have to detour by heading north on State Highway 1, exiting at Tawa, and then head back south via Middleton Road (see detour map below).

The work is scheduled at night, when traffic volumes are lower, to minimise delays for drivers. However, the detour will require additional travel time, so drivers needing to access Glenside and Grenada should allow extra time for their journey while this work is underway.

Drivers are asked to follow all detours and traffic management controls in place while this work is underway – it is there to keep the public and road workers safe.
