Nightworks on the way for Ngauranga to Petone shared path

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 9 Jul 2026 4:06pm | Wellington

Regular users of the Ngauranga to Petone shared path are asked to be ready for nightworks on the route next week.

From Monday, 13 July, to Thursday, 16 July, between 9 pm and 4 am, the project team will be carrying out overnight ducting and cabling works on a short section of the path.

The path will remain open, but a small area (around 12 m x 2 m) near the Traction Building, at the path’s mid-point, will be temporarily surfaced before final resurfacing.

Cyclists and pedestrians are asked to take care on this surface.

There will also be vehicles on the path moving slowly and with flashing lights – path users must slow down when moving past them.

Cyclists and pedestrians are asked to take care around the worksite. There will be plenty of room to pass, but please ensure you do so safely.

This is routine close-out work as the project approaches full completion.

Path users may also want to consider alternative options, such as catching the train.
