Drivers needing to access State Highway 59 from Porirua and Titahi Bay at night need to be ready for a northbound on-ramp closure between 9 pm and 5 am next Thursday night (9 October). 

Contractors will complete works for the road rebuild on this on-ramp. Because heavy machinery will be used, it means the on-ramp will be unsafe for drivers to use while works are underway.  

A detour will be in place via Parumoana Street, Lyttelton Avenue, Walton Leigh Avenue, Titahi Bay Road, and the Mungavin Avenue interchange.  

The work is timed to happen at night when traffic volumes are lower. This reduces overall disruption and delays for drivers as carrying out these works during the day would have a much greater impact on traffic flows. 

Works schedule and detour map

• Thursday, 9 October. 9 pm – 5 am
• SH59 north bound on-ramp CLOSED
• Detour via Parumoana Street, Lyttelton Avenue, Walton Leigh Avenue, Titahi Bay Road, and the Mungavin Avenue interchange.
