Overnight closures on SH2 Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road – starting tonight

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 28 Jan 2026 1:50pm | Bay of Plenty

The State Highway 2 Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road (TELTR) will be closed tonight and tomorrow nights, for maintenance work.

The road will then be closed for another 2 nights in February.

A signposted detour will be in place.

The road will be closed between the SH2 on-ramp at Domain Road, and the SH33 and SH2 roundabout.

The road will be closed between 8pm and 5am on these dates:

  • Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 January, between 8pm and 5am
  • Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 February, between 8pm and 5am.

During each night closure, traffic in both directions will be detoured via the Te Puke Highway.

These closures are required to complete remedial works on the road surface where a culvert was installed earlier in the project. In addition, the steel barriers currently supporting the lane closure will be removed and replaced with wire rope barriers.

Construction of the Pāpāmoa East Interchange is in its final stages and is expected to be open in late March 2026.
