29 January 2026 – A full closure tonight is not needed
Crews had an excellent night last night and were able to finish all asphalt surfacing ahead of schedule. A closure is no longer required tonight.
23 January 2026 – Overnight full closures of SH22 immediately west of Drury Interchange
Over two nights on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 January, all lanes on State Highway 22 (SH22) between (but not including) the northbound on/off ramps at Drury Interchange and the SH22/Karaka Road/Great South Road intersection to the west will be closed to all motorists.
Full overnight closures from 9pm to 5am of this section of SH22 (in both directions) are required as part of the SH1 Papakura to Drury project, to lay new asphalt surfacing ahead of switching SH22 traffic lanes into a new alignment. If delayed due to weather, these closures will occur on the next available nights.
During these night closures, SH22 eastbound traffic will be detoured along Great South Road and Ararimu Road, to access SH1 northbound at Ramarama Interchange. Traffic can then exit and turn right at the Drury northbound off-ramp if not otherwise remaining on the motorway. All SH22 westbound traffic will be detoured onto SH1 at the Drury southbound on-ramp, and may rejoin SH22 by exiting at Ramarama Interchange, detouring along Ararimu Road and Great South Road back onto SH22.
Following these overnight closures, westbound traffic lanes on SH22 will be realigned to the southern side of the road to allow for the installation of a right-turn bay into Victoria Street. There will still be no right turns permitted out of Victoria Street onto SH22 until the intersection is fully signalised, which is expected in late March this year. Pavement construction and utility works will continue on the southern side of SH22 for the next month.
This lane realignment on SH22 will enable the signalisation of the SH22/Victoria Street/Mercer Street intersection to be progressed, which includes installing further underground ducts, stormwater infrastructure and building up road pavement. The installation of the right-turn bay into Victoria Street also enables the planned demolition of Bremner Road bridge over SH1, which is scheduled to take place overnight on 14 February.
