Pavement repairs planned in early November for Three Brothers Corner

With the state highway summer maintenance season in full swing in the top of the South Island, Three Brothers Corner is next in line for some care and attention.

Located just south of Richmond, Three Brothers Corner is the junction of State Highway 6 and State Highway 60 – a key Tasman infrastructure connection.

Five nights of mill and fill pavement repairs are planned for the route from Sunday, 1 November to Thursday, 5 November, between 8pm and 5:30am.

Contractors will be completing mill-and-fill pavement repairs on 125 metres of State Highway 60, from the Three Brothers Roundabout heading west to the adjacent overpass.

Mill and fill works see road crews fixing areas of the road in need of repair – the old pavement is removed and replaced with new asphalt. This improves the road’s grip and skid resistance and makes it safer for all road users.

Lane closures will be in place, and drivers can expect delays of around 10 minutes while the night works are underway. Night works have been chosen to complete the work as this is when traffic volumes are lower reducing overall disruption for drivers.

Road users are asked to follow all traffic management in place, including lower temporary speed limits. These help protect the road and vehicles from damage and also keep road workers safe.

Because pavement repairs like this require good weather to be effective, the schedule may change if wet weather occurs. Drivers are encouraged to stay up to date and check road conditions before they travel.

Work schedule:

  • Sunday, 1 November to Thursday, 5 November, 8pm–5:30am
  • Lane closures and a 30km/h temporary speed limit between Three Brothers Corner and SH60 overpass
  • 10-minute travel delays can be expected
