Plan ahead for disruptions - Auckland Harbour Bridge

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 10 Sep 2025 1:00pm | Auckland

Auckland road users should plan for potential disruptions on Saturday 13 September, due to protest action on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and Auckland Transport (AT) will be supporting NZ Police to ensure the safety of road users and participants.

The protest march is expected to travel south across the Auckland Harbour Bridge into the central city from Northcote, which will mean delays for southbound road users.

With significant disruption also expected for the surrounding transport network, NZTA and AT are urging people to check the latest information before travelling in the city. In particular, if you are travelling southbound into the city on Saturday, we recommend you plan ahead to avoid the bridge or consider delaying your journey if you can.

Heavy congestion and delays are expected on both sides of the bridge as well as other state highways and local roads. Allow extra time for your journey.

Consider using the Western Ring Route on state highways 16 and 18. We recommend freight vehicles use this route.

NZTA and AT will be closely monitoring the impact on the city’s network through our joint Auckland Traffic Operations Centre, and will provide real-time updates for road users on any delays or disruptions.

We encourage all travellers to check back on our real time channels including the NZTA Journey Planner and our NZTA Auckland social media pages on the day before travelling. Any public transport impacts will be advised via the AT Mobile app and website at.govt.nz/.
