POSTPONED: SH30 Whakatane River Bridge resurfacing Sunday 22 February

The resurfacing of the State Highway 30 (SH30) Whakatāne River Bridge has been re-scheduled for Sunday 22 February (1 night only).
All other details as per the traffic bulletin below.
12 February, 5:30pm
The SH30 Whakatane River Bridge closure has been postponed until further notice due to incoming wet weather. NZTA will provide another update when a new date and time are confirmed.
4 February
Resurfacing the State Highway 30 (SH30) Whakatāne River Bridge is scheduled for Thursday 12 and Friday 13 February, between 10pm and 5am each night.
To enable this work to be completed safely and efficiently, the bridge will be closed between SH30/Keepa Road roundabout and the Landing Road/Hinemoa Street roundabout.
During the day there will be a temporary speed limit in place. This will remain until the chip has bedded in, the road has been swept and the line marking reinstated.
Light vehicle detour at the bridge:
- Traffic heading out of Whakatāne (northwest): Turn right onto Landing Road, continue straight onto Domain Road, turn right onto McAlister Street, continue straight onto Commerce Street, straight through the RAB onto Valley Road and Tāneatua Road, turn right onto SH2 to Pekatahi Bridge, continue straight to SH30 Awakeri, and vice versa.
- Traffic from Ōpōtiki travelling northwest: Continue straight on SH2 (Waimana) from Wainui Road/ Matekerepu Roundabout, straight through the Tāneatua township onto the Pekatahi Bridge, through to SH30 Awakeri, and vice versa.
HPMV detour:
- Traffic heading northwest, use SH30 (Awakeri), turn right onto SH2, continue straight to Ōpōtiki, and vice versa.
