Rebuilding State Highway 10 at Oromāhoe
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 14 Nov 2025 4:20pm | Bay of Plenty
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) contractors will begin enabling works to rebuild a section of State Highway 10 (SH10) from just north of Oromāhoe Road to south of Porotu Road next week.
From Thursday 20 November, crews will be on site carrying out works, which include service relocation under stop/go traffic management. Drainage work will follow from Monday 24 November to Friday 12 December. Full pavement reconstruction will take place in the new year, from Wednesday 7 January to Friday 13 February 2026.
Work will be during the day, 7am to 5pm, with stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h temporary speed limit in place.
Travel delays are expected to be less than five minutes.
The temporary traffic management will be lifted after the enabling works are completed – so there will not be any restrictions in place over the Christmas/New Year period. It will be reinstated for the pavement rebuild from 7 January.
Please treat our crews with kindness and respect. Reduce your speed, adhere to the temporary speed limits and follow the directions of traffic management staff and signs.
Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained throughout the works.
Rebuilding the road, which often involves replacing all or most of the structural road layers, improves the longevity of the network, the resilience and ultimately the safety and efficiency for all road users.
We do our best to stick to planned dates for state highway maintenance work, but weather, unforeseen circumstances, or other factors may cause changes. Before heading out, check the NZTA Journey Planner for the latest updates.
