A stretch of State Highway 1/3 at Bulls is currently closed following an earlier crash.

The road is closed between Tangimoana Road and Bridge Street over Rangitikei River Bridge.

The closure is expected to remain in place for much of the afternoon.

A detour is in place. Northbound vehicles will be detoured right onto Wilson Rd, then left onto Halcombe Rd to SH1. This is for light vehicles only.

Heavy vehicles will be detoured through Awahuri to Feilding and north through Halcombe.

Southbound vehicles will be detoured onto SH1 at Bulls or for those coming from Taupō, detoured left onto Halcombe Road then through Feidling and onto Awahuri-Feilding Road.

Please follow the detour directions of crews on site and adhere to traffic management in place.
