UPDATE: 2.10pm – SH6 fully reopened after crash

State Highway 6 near Kingston is now fully reopened after a crash this morning.

The road reopening came after a vehicle recovery at the crash site, near Kent Street, was completed.  


1.35pm: SH6 northbound closure for vehicle recovery

The northbound lane of State Highway 6 at a crash site near Kingston is now closed for vehicle recovery.

The southbound lane is open, but road users should expect delays or avoid the area if possible.


12.25pm: Delays after serious crash in Otago

Motorists are being urged to delay their journeys or use an alternative route after a serious crash this morning on State Highway 6 near Kingston.

Police advised it received a report at 11.10am of two vehicles that collided on the road, near Kent Street. Three people had minor injuries and ambulance services were assisting on the scene, police said.

Those who are travelling in the area are advised to drive with extra care and to expect delays.
