Road surfacing and wire rope barrier maintenance will be taking place Sunday to Thursday nights on State Highway 1 (SH1) between Dragway Road and Te Kauwhata from mid-January to mid-February, which means lane restrictions or detours for road users.

Full programme of works:

Sunday 18 to Tuesday 20 January: Full southbound closure 9pm – 5am between Dragway Road and Hampton Downs. Traffic will still be able to travel south using one of the northbound lanes. Please slow down and follow traffic management instructions.

Wednesday 21 January to Thursday 5 February: Full southbound closure 9pm – 5am between Hampton Downs and Te Kauwhata. Southbound traffic will need to follow the detour via Whangamarino Road, Paddy Road, Summertime Lane, Hall Road and Rodda Road.

Sunday 8 to Wednesday 11 February: Full northbound closure 9pm – 5am with southbound lane restrictions between Te Kauwhata and Hampton Downs. Northbound traffic will need to follow the detour via Rodda Road, Hall Road, Summertime Lane, Paddy Road and Whangamarino Road.

There will be no work on Sunday 25 January or Thursday 5 February due to public holidays. 

The barrier maintenance work was originally programmed for December but could not be completed due to weather conditions and unforeseen events.  

Nearby properties may experience increased noise levels. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your support while these essential repairs are completed.
