Due to weather – these works have been postponed and the 5 nights are now scheduled for after Labour weekend.

The new dates are:

• Tuesday 28 October - Thursday 30 October nights from 6pm to 5:30am.
• (No works over the weekend.)
• Then Sunday 2 November and Monday 3 November nights 6pm to 5:30am.

As part of the Loop Road Safety Improvements project, a 5-night detour is required on State Highway 1 (SH1) between Portland Road and the State Highway 15 (SH15) roundabout, to construct the final asphalt surfacing on the southbound lanes. 

SH1 will be closed for up to 7 nights between Monday 20 October to Thursday 30 October, from 6pm to 5:30am. 

The closure will not be in place from Friday 24 to Monday 27 October, over the long weekend. 

SH1 will be fully reinstated for daytime use and fully operational all other times.  

The alternate route is along Loop Road / SH15 (see map).

This route is suitable for regular heavy freight, but oversized loads may not be able to use the Loop Road detour due to the single lane bridges, please confirm before your journey.
