SH1 Mangamuka road rebuild – expect delays
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 3 Nov 2026 10:22am | Northland
Road users should allow extra time for their journeys due to upcoming road rebuild works on State Highway 1 at Mangamuka, north of Mangamuka School Road.
Work is scheduled to start Monday 9 November and is expected to take 4 weeks, weather permitting.
Between 7am and 6pm weekdays, contractors will be rebuilding the road and installing new drainage to improve this section of highway under stop/go traffic management. Some Saturday works may be required as wet weather contingency.
Drivers should allow up to 10 minutes for extra travel time when travelling through the work site during working hours. A temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place while works are underway, including outside working hours.
Please follow all temporary traffic management and take extra care when travelling through the area.
NZTA thanks road users and nearby residents for their understanding and patience while this essential maintenance work is completed.
