State Highway 1 near Waimate in South Canterbury has reopened after a crash this afternoon.

Road users are asked to take care travelling through the area.

6.25pm – SH1 closure after vehicle crash

Detours are in place after a crash has closed State Highway 1 near Waimate in South Canterbury.

Police are at the crash site and say there are injuries resulting from the incident.

A detour is available for northbound traffic via a left turn onto McNamaras Road, right onto Molloys Road, and then left to return to SH1. The reverse applies for southbound traffic.
