NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is advising road users to expect delays with road rebuild work starting next week on SH1) in Whakapara, near Puhipuhi Road. 

Contractors will be on site undertaking work from Monday 2 to Friday 27 March, between 7am to 6pm each day.

The project has been split into two stages to reduce disruption for road users. By reducing the length of the road being rebuilt at each stage, NZTA is able to shorten the overall work programme and avoid delays or disruptions between stages. The first stage of rebuild work was completed last year.

Traffic will be able to travel along SH1 in both directions during the upcoming work, with stop/go traffic management and temporary speed restrictions in place. People are urged to plan ahead and expect travel delays of approximately 5-10 minutes. 

NZTA appreciates the patience and understanding of road users and residents while the work is carried out, with delays expected and increased noise for nearby properties. Traffic management will be in place to help local traffic enter and exit the route safely.

NZTA asks everyone to comply with temporary speed limits and follow the directions of traffic management staff and signs.
