SH2 at Tangoio to close for vehicle recovery

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 30 Apr 2025 11:25am | Hawke’s Bay

State Highway 2 north of Napier will be closing from 1pm while the road is cleared following this morning’s crash.

A truck crashed earlier today, partially blocking the highway at Tangoio.

The road has been under stop/go traffic management to keep traffic flowing through the single lane.

The road will closed between Tutira and the intersection with Tangoio Settlement Road from 1pm for approximately 2-3 hours while crews remove the truck and clear the road.

As there’s no detour, please plan your journey and expect delays when the road reopens while congestion eases.

SH2 Hawke’s Bay Expressway

Further south, a stretch of Hawke’s Bay Expressway remains closed between the Pākōwhai/Links Road and Evenden Road roundabouts, following a crash earlier today.

A signposted detour is in place.

Northbound traffic is being detoured right onto Evenden Road, left onto Pākōwhai Road, before continuing north onto the expressway. The reverse will apply for southbound vehicles.
