State Highway 2 north of Napier will close between 11pm and 3am tonight to clear the road following today’s earlier crash.

The road is currently open to 1 lane with a 30 km/h temporary speed restriction in place.

The road will then close for a 4 hour period from 11pm so crews can remove the truck and clear the road.

At 3am the road will then reopen to 1 lane, with traffic lights in place to control the 1 lane closure.

NZTA will provide an update at 5pm tomorrow regarding this lane closure. 

Roading crews will return to site tomorrow to carry out water cutting along a stretch of the closed lane.

Please expect delays travelling through the site and drive to the speed and conditions of the road.
