State Highway 2 between Otane and Waipawa has reopened under stop/go traffic management after an offal spill yesterday evening.

A stretch of road was closed around 5pm while emergency services attended the spill and crews cleaned up the road.

A detour was put in place, while the clean up continued.

The incident saw offal spilled onto the road, making for a slippery and dangerous surface.

Crews are continuing the cleanup and the road has reopened under stop/go traffic management.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi wishes to thank motorists for adhering to the traffic management currently in place.

Please continue to expect delays and drive to the conditions.
